Phase I Construction Update

Ready or not, Here we go…Let the construction begin!!

Plans are on track for Calvary to execute a contract and issue a notice to proceed with construction to db Constructors during the week September 5.  Ward Manufacturers have been scheduled to begin the removal of our pews on September 6.  This same week, the Property committee will begin the process of removing previously identified salvageable items from the Sanctuary area for storage.  Finally, db Constructors will be onsite to begin construction on September 12th.  (Please note: A summary of the Phase 1 costs will be provided via the green sheet as this information was not available at the time of the publishing deadline for this article.)

Therefore, Sunday September 4th will be our last Sunday in the old sanctuary.  Before the closing hymn of the 11am service, we will move paraments and candles in the sanctuary and process to the Fellowship Hall to set up the altar in that space.

As we prepare to move our worship out of the sanctuary, here is important information regarding worship during the construction:

  • Worship will be in the Fellowship Hall at 8:30, 9:30 and 11 except for festival Sundays (All Saints, Reformation, Christmas, Easter)
  • Chairs will be in two sections with a center and side aisles facing the old altar area
  •  Communion will be continuous line due to the lack of an alter rail
  • Music at 8 & 11 will be provided by a keyboard with organ settings
  • Music at 9:30 will be provided by piano and acoustic instruments
  • 10:30 Sabbath Celebration will be in the FLC
  • Adult class will be in library or FLC
  • Café will be in the FLC

Thank you to everyone for your continued support, excitement and of course patience as we navigate through the next several months while we are in full construction mode.  Please do not hesitate to contact me directly (817 -480-4878 or wsignorelli@verizon.net) or any council member with any concerns or issues that may arise as part of the construction.
Respectfully submitted,
Bill Signorelli – Council President
