Intern Kyle Symanski

Kyle was born and raised in Evergreen Park, Illinois, a small suburb on the south side of Chicago. After completing high school, Kyle spent his summers working for his home church, Ashburn Lutheran in Chicago, as a summer camp counselor and, eventually, summer camp director. It was during those summers that he began to discover in his love of and passion for teaching and learning.

Kyle attended the University of Minnesota where he completed a B.A. in Mathematics, specializing in education. During his time living in Minneapolis, he continued to work in education, spending time teaching in Minneapolis Public Schools and volunteering as a Youth Empowerment Leader for the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches Kinship Program.

After graduation, Kyle moved back to Chicago where he began work in a Chicago Public School and for Sylvan Learning Centers as an upper level math tutor and ACT teacher. Less than a year removed from graduation at Minnesota, Kyle began coursework at the Lutheran School of Theology where he hopes to focus his love for teaching and education on the ministry of the church.

Over the past few years, Kyle spent time working in various churches, taking on various roles, and learning new things, but still works with kids everyday at Sylvan. He hopes that new ministries and people will benefit from his passion and experience this coming year, and that his time at Calvary will be time spent learning and growing among friends.
