Sweet Hour of Prayer
Sweet Hour of Prayer was a song I first sang in my nursing home ministry in Toledo, Ohio in the 80’s. The lyrics speak to the power of prayer, especially in “seasons of distress and grief” when in prayer my soul “has often find relief.” The last verse imagines us seeing the promised land from the heights of Mt. Pisgah (Mt. Nebo, Jordan) and taking flight to “hasten to the place where God my Savior shows his face.” Sweet hour of prayer, indeed.
